Dan Jahn Photography and photospace | Studio Internship Program

Assist on shoots, learn about professional commercial photography, how to run a professional photography studio.

We accept interns every three months, for 6 weeks, with the expectation of a minimum 16 hours a week.

If you need a certain number of hours for school credit, your internship can be customized to meet the required hours. You will gain valuable hands-on experience and can earn college credit with this photo internship.

The internship is not an hourly paid position, but has a small stipend of $300.

We want interns interested in pursuing careers as professional photographers.

The type of work will vary depending on the background of the participant and the work that is needed at the time. This work could include any of the following:
  • assisting on shoots in the studio
  • assisting on shoots in the field
  • researching and generating lists of photography contests and preparing entries
  • assisting in managing photography workshops
  • you will also be asked to help out around the studio with various office duties when necessary
  • importing images and working on them in Apple Aperture or PhotoShop
  • sorting, organizing, and tagging images for stock sales
  • assisting with set up at art shows
  • helping to prepare proposals for magazine articles

Your photography skills should be at least at an intermediate level, but even more essential is your ability to learn by observation, think for yourself, and problem solve. You are the kind of person who gets things done. You will be given as much responsibility as you can handle. In exchange for your time, Dan will be available to give you assignments, critique your work, and provide general advice and guidance. Like most things in life, you will get out of it in proportion to what you put into it. You will be encouraged to shoot on your own as much as possible, and apply what you have learned. Other aspects of this position, or what more you might want out of it, remain open for you to define with Dan.

photospace includes bathroom and changing room, daylight-balanced make-up stand, wired and wi-fi net access, indoor and outdoor parking, loading deck, black-out and natural lighting options, client lounge, fully equipped kitchen, waiting area, collectors edition photo bookstore, full ProFoto lighting and state-of-the-art grip equipment, 35mm and medium-format cameras with a wide assortment of lenses, professional studio assistants, digital technicians, and archival gallery printing on a variety of materials up to 60" wide.
photospace can also coordinate catering, hair & makeup artists, food stylists, car service, retouching professionals, and CGI artists, along with a wide variety of models.

about dan jahn

Dan is the owner of photospace, and is an award-winning Denver based professional photographer & digital artist working nationally and internationally, offering creative, high quality commercial photography.  His work is currently seen in magazines, on websites, and in commercial buildings as well as fine homes.  Dan holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from schools both in the United States and in Europe, worked at The White House and has worked and taught in the field of visual communications for ten years at multiple universities as well as guest lectured at other schools and conferences.
